This is a phono stage circuit that refer to a well-known NAIM NAIT2 one, purely discrete component designing, which is a bit different from conventional design, and single-ended class A is just one of the reasons for its good sound.
 

The conventional phono stage uses a negative feedback mode, and both treble and bass are adjusted by the feedback network. In order to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio, vinyl record is pre-raised high frequency and then burned onto a vinyl record, so phono stage is designed with deep negative feedback to reduce high-frequency signal amplification to obtain a flat high-frequency signal output, and also the background noise is suppressed, to obtain a signal with a high signal to noise ratio. Therefore, high frequency negative feedback is quite deep. Everyone understands that although negative feedback is very beneficial for distortion improvement, excessive negative feedback has a rather adverse effect on the sense of hearing. This is a consensus.
 

As a front-end device, the impact is very large on the use of signal processing methods, especially the high-frequency depth feedback method, which makes sound listen less easy and natural.
 

However, RIAA portion of the NAIM phono stages is obtained differently from conventional designs, and its design effectively avoids this situation. First, the first stage gain of the NAIM phono stage is about two times. Although this level has negative feedback, its open-loop magnification of this level is very small, so the negative feedback is very shallow, its disadvantage may be Ignored. After that, through a low-pass network, high frequency is attenuated, here is the key! We don't have to doubt the designer's grasp of the attenuation slope! In fact, high-frequency signals do conform to RIAA curve standard for this treatment. The attenuated signal is passed directly to the second stage, which is straight-through. The task of the latter stage amplifier is to adjust the curve in middle and low frequency. Avoid deep negative feedback of high frequency signal! Therefore, low-pass network works in conjunction with middle-to-low curve adjustment network, and its final output is an audio signal that conforms to RIAA standard curve. This design makes music sound very stable, and it is musical sense, and it is obviously different from listening sensation of the conventional phono stage.
 

Why is this design so that the music sounds very stable and musical sense? HIFI circle generally has a fascinating saying that the sound of attenuated phono is better than feedback phono one. Phono stage amplifier is designed for a phono signal amplification while using Turntables amplifier inside for special sound equalization circuit (RIAA) for restoring vinyl, it cannot be used for other purposes.

 

Method for checking noise sources

 

After phono player connected with the phono amplifier stage, if there is a significant low-frequency noise, you need to check in which part of the noise.
